Another year is just in the corner. Lots of things happened, good, bad and again a new year is coming just like always, passing by like the wind.
Looking back, I only wrote 12 posts (including this one) throughout this year. I know, I know, I suck at writing, and most of them are technical, but that’s the best I can do 🙁
Development
The year started with a good news, contributing to WordPress core in 4.1. I haven’t released any new significant projects or plugins, but I started two of them and I really have high hope on those. One of them is WP-ERP, an open source ERP solution for WordPress. As it’s a huge project, I spent first-half of this year creating the framework and making the base. Development of this project is very active by the team at this moment and going to be released soon. Another one is still on stealth mode, being cooked on a secret laboratory 😉
As the whole year was busy managing the free and commercial products, I’ve released two side projects: 1) WP Eloquent 2) CRUD Generator for WordPress.
Travel
This year I’ve visited India for the first time to attend WordCamp Pune in September 2015 with my friend Nizam. After attending the conference, we went to Kashmir – The Heaven on Earth. It was so beautiful, just like you see pictures in a photo frame.
For the 2nd time, I went to the United States in November to attend WordCamp US. As I had the international driving license, I drove this time. The driving direction is different than what I am used to drive in Bangladesh (right-hand side), it felt a little awkward. But as our mind is designed to adopt changes after a while, it felt OK and I drove for 5-6 hours straight on the way coming back from Key West to Orlando. This time, I visited a lot of places, including The Bahamas on a cruise 😀
Company
As a company, weDevs grew, from 14 people to 23 people. Many new faces joined, few gone. As more people joining the team, managing them is getting harder. I am getting more busy handling them, managing the products, generating new ideas, working with new and existing ideas and products as well as my side projects. Life is getting more busy and less time in hand to manage all of these.
This year we sponsored two WordCamp, WordCamp Pune and WordCamp US. As the central WordCamp, sponsoring WordCamp US was a great deal for us, achieving a milestone as a company.
weDevs won BASIS award on Startup Company category in November by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS).
Apart from weDevs, I and 2 other folks built a new startup – Rx71, which started its journey in the middle of 2014 and focuses on to digitize and changing the health sector in Bangladesh. We spent nearly 2 years in making, an effort of 60+ people and finally soft launching the portal today, in 31st December 2015, much more new feature will come later this year (2016).
Life
Not much of changes happened in my life except the views and realizations are changing as days are passing by. I was so busy chasing the dreams, spending most of the time in front of computers, now I want to understand the meaning of life more, enjoy things more, observe, want to settle down. Programming / coding is what makes me who I am and gives me mental peace, but slowly I am realizing life is more than just computers (perks of getting older!). I saw almost all of my friends got married by this year, having kids, I am still single though 😉
In march, I got enlisted on a book titled “টেকি সফল উদ্যোক্তার গল্প” (Successful Tech Entrepreneur Stories), a Bengali book written by Nazmus Sakib. The book lists 25 young tech entrepreneurs from Bangladesh and describes their failure, success and overall the journey to their endeavour.
Future Startup, a startup related news media for startups in Bangladesh. Recently they made a shortlist of 15 startup Entrepreneurs, Trailblazers, Mold-Breakers Of Bangladesh under the age of 35 and I was listed on their shortlist.
So in a nutshell, a hell lot of things happened in 2015 and it was awesome indeed. Another year is coming, a new beginning and I hope it will be more awesome. Wish me luck in the coming year and happy new year to all of you guys. Have a blast 😀
Happy New Year 🙂 Best wishes for 2016
